What Rafīq is
Rafīq is a free study companion for adults who have recently embraced Islam. It provides plain-language explanations, canonical Qur’anic text with citations, and guided lessons for your first weeks as a Muslim. It is not a mosque, a scholar, or a source of religious rulings.
What Rafīq is not
Rafīq is not a mufti and does not issue fatwas or personal religious rulings. Nothing on this website constitutes a religious ruling, legal advice, or medical advice. For personal religious questions, please consult a qualified scholar or your local mosque.
Scholarly oversight
The content on Rafīq is developed under the guidance of a scholarly oversight board. However, the tool is a study aid only. The board’s involvement does not make Rafīq a substitute for qualified human scholarship.
Qur’anic content
All Qur’anic text and translations are retrieved from canonical sources (Quran Foundation / quran.com). Rafīq is architecturally designed not to generate or fabricate scripture. If Rafīq cannot verify a claim from a canonical source, it will say so and direct you to a human.
Your use of this site
By using Rafīq you agree to use it for genuine personal learning only. You must not attempt to manipulate or bypass the tool’s safeguards, use it to generate content that misrepresents Islamic teaching, or use it for any unlawful purpose.
Third party services
Rafīq uses the Anthropic Claude API and the Quran Foundation MCP server. Your use of Rafīq is subject to those services’ own terms. Rafīq does not sell or share your data with any third party.
Privacy
Rafīq collects almost no personal data. No account is required. See our Privacy page for full details.
No warranties
Rafīq is provided free of charge, as is, without warranty of any kind. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, the founder does not warrant that the content is error-free or suitable for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Australian law, the founder of Rafīq accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of this website or reliance on its content.
